Bra diskussion om det vettlösa nya rökförbudet. Jag har aldrig rökt och vill aldrig göra det men förstår inte varför vi ska låta politiker och särintressen uppfostra oss. Låt vuxna människor själva fatta beslut om saker!

📖 Read Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance
I’ve been wanting to read this one since I first heard about it around the time it was published, so I was glad to see that I could listen to it in ”BookBeat”, the audiobooks subscription service I’m currently using.
The book was very interesting and easy to listen to. I knew very little, if anything, about hillbilly culture before listening to this book. I also feel like I know pretty much nothing about the white American working class coming from the horses mouth, only from people on the right or left not coming from the group in question.
Though I’m not a conservative, the part about how the hillbillies problems go deeper than what social policies can change and that part of the responsibility for the problems, and thereby the solution, lie with the people themselves spoke to me. It seems like Vance is the old school type of conservative or republican, the kind that was more prevalent before the party was hijacked by a buffoon and those power-hungry enough to sell out every single principle they have as long as they feel like they can use the buffoon in question for their own personal gain. The kind that I respect.

Linn and I have been wanting to find a new show that we can both get into and this one seems very promising.
Great acting by McConaughey and Harrelson and nice chemistry between them. Also very nice work by the make-up department.

📖 Read ”Kvinnan på tåget” by Paula Hawkins
Judging by the reviews on GoodReads, this is a really divisive book. Either people love it or they hate it. To me it was quite middle of the road. I watched the movie a few years ago and liked it and the book was okay.
I mainly have two problems with it.
It’s too long. If it was shortened by about 20% all the necessary points in it could still be hit, but it would be a quicker read.
And lastly, I don’t get why this gets compared to Gone Girl.

29 juni, 2019 11:06@MrHenko I Norge er det allerede forbud på noe av det som kommer 1. juli i Sverige. Jeg håper Norge følger etter på resten. Som astmatiker er det svært vanskelig for meg å sitte på en uteservering hvis noen røyker. Jeg håper å kunne gjøre det snart jeg og.

Med det sagt, hur är det med din astma och så kallade e-cigaretter? Reagerar du på dem också?

30 juni, 2019 11:16@MrHenko Det var vel bruken av ordet «vettlösa» som fikk meg til å kommentere. Jeg velger å tro at det har vært en tanke bak, selv om en kanskje ikke er enig. 😉
Jeg merker egentlig lite forskjell på sigarett og e-sigarett. Men skal innrømme at det er sjelden jeg utsettes for røyk lenger. Så har ikke vært eksponert for mye e-sigaretter.

30 juni, 2019 14:19@furstenberg Jag kan hålla med om att ”vettlösa” var ett onödigt hårt ord i en så kort post. Hade passat bättre till ett längre blogginlägg där jag motiverade det mera.
Hur som helst, anledningen till att jag frågar om din astma och e-cigaretter är att så vitt jag vet[^1] så finns det inga tydliga forskningsresultat som stöder att e-cigaretter är särskilt farliga, och definitivt inte att de är ett problem för astmatiker som vistas i en utomhusmiljö där andra använder dem.
Det i kombination med hur den implementeras som en lag inte bara om vad som får ske på uteserveringar utan även i en odefinierad ”närhet” till uteserveringar gör att jag är väldigt skeptisk till lagen. Den är inte tillräckligt genomtänkt och genomarbetad och stinker av morallag snarare än faktisk folkhälsofrämjare.

30 juni, 2019 14:50@MrHenko Når det gjelder e-sigaretter kommer det an på om de har nikotin eller ikke tenker jeg. Så lenge tobakksfirmaer pusher e-sigaretter, tenker jeg at hele historien ikke er fortalt enda. Bedre enn vanlig sigarett? Garantert! Ufarlig? Heller tvilsomt.
Min erfaring er at jeg får vondt nedover halsen når noen røyker e-sigarett i nærheten. F. eks kollegaer på jobb som røyker rett utenfor inngangen (hvor det er tak over hodet).
Dette er ikke ulikt hvordan det føles med en vanlig sigarett.
Og her i Norge var både den opprinnelige røykeloven på 80-tallet, og innstrammingen på 2000-tallet fulgt av mange som mente det var moral og ikke fornuft som var årsak.
Tror ikke det er mange som tenker det lenger etter å ha sett alt det positive der har ført med seg.
