Replied to Thoughts on Netflix by Steve P Brady (micro.stevepbrady.me)

I think 3 seasons is probably the sweet spot as far as story telling goes. I’d much prefer 10 exciting and original 3 season shows to 5 bloated shows that just keep chruning out episodes derivative of their own past. Am I wrong?

I agree with this. I think this golden age of television that we are in is only helped by killing shows before they lose what makes them special. Netflix’ own Stranger Things is a great example of this. The first season was amazing, the second one really good, while the third one really feels like it’s time to wrap things up.

Another example of a show that ran way too long is Orange is the New Black. Amazing for a couple of seasons and then it just fell apart. IMHO, off course.

LiveVideoTech.today seems like an interesting place. I should check it out properly when I start getting back into work mode in a couple of weeks.

I’ve been using Drafts for a really long time now but every now and then I click/tap something I haven’t clicked/tapped before and I realise I use maybe 10% of the apps capability.

Couldn’t help but think of this one. :)

I feel a real shortage of microcasts in my podcast queue at the moment, so I’m glad Manton published a new episode of Timetable this week.

Does anyone have any recommendations of other microcasts?

Watched Devs from thetvdb.com

Linn and I finished watching Devs last night and I’m currently listening to The Incomparable’s discussion of it. I need to think about this one and write more but as a whole I thought it was a very interesting premise that failed in the execution. And it was waaaaaaay too long. A two hour movie, or even a Black Mirror episode, would have been enough.

Replied to PESOS from Instagram? by Jeremy CherfasJeremy Cherfas (stream.jeremycherfas.net)

At last night’s online HWC we talked a bit about getting pictures in and out of Instagram, now that they have become so much stricter about the API. Getting images into Instagram except through approved apps seems to be getting harder and harder, and is probably impossible by now. Getting images out…

I haven’t used Instagram for a long time but for the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying to convince my fiancé to at least PESOS her Instagram posts to her old, inactive blog. This looks like a way that might be done. Thanks, Jeremy!

@MrHenko The one I use is at github.com/matzko/wp… I notice that is has not been tested with the latest version, but it is still working for me.

@jeremycherfas Thanks, that looks very promising. 👍

@MrHenko Ah. I doubled checked and it’s an automatic weekly backup. It only costs a dollar / month + storage costs. To setup there’s just a checkbox to enable backups and it’s set it and forget it.
They’ve also got a a guide how to automate it more frequently up at How To Use DigitalOcean Snapshots …

@jamesvandyne Interesting, thank you!
