En förälder som är emot vaccination kommenterar att barn dör av mässlingen: “Det finns så många andra saker barn dör av”.

You know, a world where you occasionally need to connect your computer to stuff using USB, HDMI or – god forbid and I do feel your misery – VGA?
Make sure you have an extra $200 to spend when you buy the new MacBook since you will need:
That’s $177! It’s likely you’ll also need a USB-hub that will probably cost you ten bucks for an okay one and maybe, if you like me work in an environment with flaky wi-fi, you’ll also need the good old Apple USB Ethernet Adapter for an additional $29.
And you know your pretty computer will look really pretty with an adapter sticking out of it, connected to a second adapter, connecter to a third adapter.
But I’m sure it looks great on Jony Ive’s desk.

We don’t need all those other ports, Apple says. We are living in a wireless world now, where we can connect most of our peripherals without cords. Except every morning I plug my Air into a Thunderbolt display, and every afternoon I plug my iPhone into my Air to charge it. Of course, Apple will sell dongles—overpriced, naturally—that allow you to do those things.
There’s also no fingerprint reader, like the iPhone and iPad’s TouchID.
But when I opened up the lid and gazed at the 2304×1440-pixel Retina 12-inch screen, those issues faded away. The edge-to-edge display is crisp and bright—a huge improvement over the current MacBook Air.
I’m highly anticipating actual reviews of this thing. My gut feeling1, that undoubtably has been wrong a lot before, tells me that in five years laptops like this one will be the new default, much like the MacBook Air/Ultrabook is the default right now. But just lite the original Air on its first launch, this will not in itself be a compelling product to that many people. It is certainly not the right laptop for my needs.

Pinsamt av högern att låtsas som att det är något dåligt när en diktatur protesterar mot vår utrikesminister, eftersom hon kritiserat dem för deras vidriga behandling av sina medborgare. All heder åt Wallström i det här fallet.

Now this is my kind of smart watch. A couple of swiss watch manufacturers have agreed on a technical platform for slowly incorporating some ”smartness” inte their timepieces and the result is beautiful.
I’d much rather have a beautiful ”traditional” watch with some smarts added to it than the pocket computers styled as a watches that Apple, Googlorola and Samsung tries to sell.1

I så fall borde en attack mot internet, t.ex. en DDoS-attack mot en webbhost, en DNS-provider eller liknande likställas med en motsvarande attack mot människors vattenförsörjning.
Människor som begår sådana brott borde eftersökas med stora resurser och straffas hårt.

Låt oss göra ett tankeexperiment att om Veckans Boss inte gjordes av fina Sveriges Radios P3 utan av någon av hatsajterna som kallat det för humor och satir, och att föremålet för trashtalket hade varit en Alice, säg kulturminister Alice Bah Kunke från Miljöpartiet som hade kallats för husblatte, jämförts med lasermannen och att man läst upp sexuella omdömen från en Flashbacktråd så skulle mediestormen ha varit bedövande.

Bra skrivet om hur P3s taskiga värdegrund när det gäller hur man behandlar människor. Det mesta verkar vara okej, bara den man förnedrar är ”höger”.

On the surface, like Patrick Bateman, I had everything a young man could possibly want to be “happy” and yet I wasn’t. I think Fight Club is about this, too—this idea that men are sold a bill of goods about what they have to be in order to feel good about themselves, or feel important. No one can really live up to these ideals, so there’s an immense amount of dissatisfaction roiling through the collective male psyche.

Really interesting interview with Bret Easton Ellis. I like that he draws this comparison to Fight Club, especially since I read it and American Psycho in quick succession and thought they both sort of hammered on the same notes. I did, however, like Fight Club a lot more than American Psycho.

I’m a big fan of a lot of things in iOS, but there are some things that annoy me. My single biggest annoyance is the way the automatic quitting of background apps sometimes messes with audio-playing applications.
Most of the time when I listen to stuff on my iPhone it is a podcast and my podcast listening has always been via a third-party app1. Since background audio was allowed the listening itself is not a problem. The problem is when I pause and some time passes before I want to resume playback. If the podcast app has been quit by the os during this pause, when I hit the play button nothing happens. Or, even worse, the Music app starts playing what it thinks I last listened to which might be a song that I listened to a month ago.
