I’m a big fan of a lot of things in iOS, but there are some things that annoy me. My single biggest annoyance is the way the automatic quitting of background apps sometimes messes with audio-playing applications.

Most of the time when I listen to stuff on my iPhone it is a podcast and my podcast listening has always been via a third-party app¹. Since background audio was allowed the listening itself is not a problem. The problem is when I pause and some time passes before I want to resume playback. If the podcast app has been quit by the os during this pause, when I hit the play button nothing happens. Or, even worse, the Music app starts playing what it thinks I last listened to which might be a song that I listened to a month ago.
